Kerala  is a state on the tropical Malabar Coast of southwestern India. To its east and northeast, Kerala borders Tamil Nadu and Karnataka; to its west and south lie the Indian Ocean islands of Lakshadweep and the Maldives, respectively.

Kerala,  the land of 'kera' (coconut) trees, is one of the smallest states in India. With its beautiful rivers, back waters and ever green mountains, Kerala got uniqueness and distinct individuality among other Indian states. Because of its geographical position - isolated from the deccan plateau by the mountainous belt of the Western Ghats, but a long coastline open to foreign influences- Kerala has evolved a unique culture. Since Kerala is composed of several ethnic and religious groups, the state has a wide variety of festivals.
